The Direct Support Professional Friend is a person who is not only focused on the individual's safety, health, and their environment but is concerned with the individual themselves being involved in their day. This person is asking the individuals what they like to do, eat, talk about, listen to on the radio, etc. and they’re doing those things. This person is engaged and listening to the individuals. They pay attention to how the individual is feeling and if need be, asking what they can do. Assists and supports in the planning, implementation and documentation of programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and personal needs of each Individual. Assists, supports, and instructs Individuals in self-help skills designed to encourage independence. Accompanies Individuals on community outings, medical appointments, and other activities as indicated.
Act in accordance with our safety procedures and approved practices. Exercise good judgment when confronted with safety related decisions. Demonstrate that your first concern is to ensure the safety of our individuals, yourself, other staff and the community, (includes but is not limited to safe driving, safe working area, and safe living environment).
Be professional, approachable, friendly and helpful. Work with integrity remembering that you represent, and your actions are the reputation of Genesis Community Homes. Demonstrate knowledge of our customers (internal and external) and take steps to understand and address their needs and anticipate future needs. Be sensitive to customer satisfaction, and ensure your interactions result in positive outcomes.
Hold yourself accountable for meeting expectations. Work diligently to achieve goals, minimize risk and take responsibility and ownership of your own actions, and services provided. Complete assignments on time and accurately, work independently and be dependable. Report to work as scheduled and on time. Report absences in accordance with our procedure.
