As a Maintenance Technician II with us, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment, contributing to our commitment to excellence and eco-consciousness.
Overview:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to support plant operations. From electrical work to equipment troubleshooting, your role will be essential in maintaining our high standards of efficiency and safety. Safety, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and support set up of paper converting production machines in a 24/7 operation.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure maintenance activities performed on equipment meet or exceed the manufacturer’s requirements for quality and reliability.
2. Ensure manufacturer warranties remain effective by adhering to necessary safeguards and guidelines.
3. Perform troubleshooting, machine repairs, and replace components, as required.
4. Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of machines and plants systems.
5. Proficient in basic methods of measuring current, voltage, and resistance during electrical troubleshooting procedures.
6. Understanding the use of circuit components and trouble shoot circuit issues.
7. Fabricate equipment as required.
8. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
9. Display working knowledge of electrochemical action and use of batteries, characteristics of storage batteries, maintenance of lead-acid, nickel-alkaline, and nickel-cadmium batteries, putting batteries into service, charging batteries, and maintaining regulatory compliance and service records.
10. Will demonstrate proficient use of, and maintenance of Electric Measuring Instruments including voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, ohmmeter, and megohmmeter.
11. Possesses expert knowledge of Electrical Safety and Protection protocols and devices, including but not limited to fuses, circuit breakers, and motor protection devices, interlocks, etc. That knowledge and skill is used to determine electrical hazards and ensure a safe work environment, through the correct use of PPE, Lockout/Tagout and First Aid.
12. Possess expert knowledge of the types and operating principles of common single-phase motors. Can identify motor leads on split-phase, capacitor-start, capacitor-run, permanent split capacitor and repulsion motors, and other special types, including synchro and servo systems. Able to diagnose motor problems and perform basic repairs and/or replace and test motors.
13. Posse a working knowledge of three-phase power distribution and motor principles for induction, synchronous, and multi-speed dual-voltage motors. Ability to perform recommended maintenance for AC motors and perform diagnosis and basic repairs, or replacement of three-phase motors and starters.
14. Ability to perform basic diagnosis and repairs on DC and AC control system devices, including but not limited to, pushbutton control stations, limit switches, mercury switches, mechanical and magnetic switches, foot switches, encoders, overspeed and overload protection, drum and reversing controllers, dynamic braking, DC power supplies, etc.
15. Maintain plant support systems in working order, i.e., heat, air, fans, air compressors and dryers, etc.
16. Responsible for housekeeping in parts room, shop, and air compressor rooms. Ensure work areas are neat, organized, and safe.
17. Ensure production area floors and equipment are free from excess spare parts, worn parts, debris, and other items not necessary for operating and maintaining production equipment.
18. Ensure compliance with OSHA and Company safety rules and regulations; communicate as appropriate.
19. Adhere to the Company on call policy and can maintain an on-call status on either an intermittent or regularly scheduled basis.
20. Inform Maintenance Manager of any operator-related actions, such as inadequate training or unsafe work practices that increase risk of maintenance problems and/or lost production downtime.
21. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, ability to lift 35 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
22. Ensure compliance with OSHA and Company safety rules and regulations.
23. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function of this position.
24. Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Experience in electrical maintenance
- Proficiency in using an ohmmeter and working with high voltage systems
- Ability to fabricate parts for equipment repairs
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficient in English for effective communication
- Experience in field service maintenance is a plus
- Knowledge of industrial electrician practices is preferred
