Overview:
THIS IS A UNION POSITION. THERE WILL BE NO FIXED SCHEDULE. SCHEDULE IS BASED ON BUSINESS AND SENIORITY. YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IF YOU HAVE SCHEDULING RESTRICTIONS.
We are seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and experience in a restaurant or fine dining setting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
- Cook and plate menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace at all times
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Monitor food stock and place orders when there are shortages
Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques
- Knowledge of kitchen knives and tools
- Experience in fine dining or restaurant environments
- Ability to handle meal preparation efficiently
- Strong understanding of food service principles
- Previous experience as a Dietary Aide or in the dietary department is a plus
- Familiarity with kitchen operations in the food industry
