Personal Injury Associate Attorney
This position is responsible for all aspects of personal injury cases with a strong focus on pre-litigation settlements. Responsibilities include evaluating the merits of an injury case; providing guidance and counsel to clients through effective communication, medical review, and negotiating; usually settling and possibly litigating cases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze all intake information, medical treatment and expenses, collateral sources and liens, and all relevant information to determine case strategy and case value.
- Constantly communicate proactively with internal teams and clients for forward movement of case resolution with comprehensive and accurate research of case medical history, data analysis, etc. and develop a strong knowledge of automotive billing processes, PIP statues, and other as needed.
- Network for the purpose of securing new PI cases that the firm (and yourself) may then represent.
- Complete drafted legal documents including demand letters.
- Interview, communicate, manage, and document client interactions with special attention given to guiding clients through the legal process.
- Gain client trust and confidence for the purpose of securing favorable reviews and referrals for future cases.
- Negotiate with insurance companies and settle cases with highest possible value outcome.
- Contact medical providers and complete paperwork relating to the claim; gather medical evidence and medical records. Negotiate medical bills on behalf of your clients.
- Represent the interests of the client via insurance companies, adjusters, medical care providers, liens management, and in all things related to case resolution including possible attendance at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.
- Assist the injured client with benefits, including appropriate medical care.
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of the client.
- Take depositions of the claimant, witnesses, physicians, medical experts, and other parties.
- Conduct discovery; perform legal research.
- Remain current with developments in the law.
- Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
- Coordinate and schedule ongoing case reviews and task requirements based on ultimate responsibility for managing and meeting deadlines as well as assisting clients in provider authorizations and timely management of treatments.
- Compile and submit reports required by firm management.
Requirements:
- A general understanding, interest, and preferable experience in Florida personal injury law.
- Should have undergraduate degree and law degree as well as license to practice law in the State of Florida.
- Must be able to recognize when a “final offer” really isn’t quite final.
- Ability to answer clients' questions and guide them through the legal process.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills. Able to negotiate settlements.
- Ability to work both independently and also in team.
- Strong technology skills including computers, legal platforms, Microsoft suite, etc.
- Must be able to autonomously meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
