The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is seeking a highly passionate, motivated individual to lead at our newest site, Thompson Center, for 9 months to 5 years old! We are currently hiring for this position in all age groups: 9-18 months; 18-24 months; 24-36 months; 36 months and up.
*Lead teachers need at least 6 months experience in childcare, and either some formal education in ECE or willing to work on an accreditation/ degree.*
Duties:
- Lead teachers are responsible to prepare, update and distribute curriculum programs for their designated children, and to plan weekly lesson plans consistent with the centers developmental philosophy and objectives as well as site QRIS and Pre-K standards.
- Activities must be organized in accordance with the Director approved curriculum, as well as with the goals and values of BGCWN, to provide an effective child development program that meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child.
- Ensure that child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with BGCWN’s policies and procedures. This includes routines related to toileting, hand washing, eating, napping, and transitioning between activities.
- Mentor and instruct teachers in the designated group on expectations and duties per state licensing and center requirements.
- Manage, motivate and encourage all teachers.
- Provide excellent customer services to families via written and verbal communications.
- Operate the classroom in compliance with all child care licensing standards, and BGCWN and Policy Handbooks.
- Foster a sense of teamwork with co-workers by participating in all activities, including cleaning, housekeeping, toileting assistance, and meal service.
- Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures.
- Maintain a clean, open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure.
- Provide daily classroom activities that promote individual expression, fun, creativity, collaboration, accountability, integrity, and respect (sing-a-longs, art projects, sensory exploration, outdoor stimulation).
- Collaborate with other teachers and Director to create and implement intentional family nights.
- Administer first aid, as needed, per Smart Start protocols
- Other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: Cleaning & organizing CDC kitchen and supplies.
Requirements:
- 6 months minimum experience in early childhood education/ childcare
- All employees who are 16 years of age and older are required to submit fingerprints to local and federal repositories for background checks prior to start date.
- Federal background check
- TB skin test clearance
- This is a full time, 40 hour a week position, Monday-Friday.
- Staff development days are subject to different hours.
- Requirements for the duration of employment:
- Employees must take the State of Nevada required initial training within the first 30 days of employment.
- Employees must complete 24 hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related subjects every licensing year of employment.
