The Urban League of Hudson County, in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Human Services, and Division of Family Development childcare subsidy is seeking a Resource & Referral Senior Program Specialist to be the central point of contact for families seeking childcare services and community resources. You will provide personalized assistance to families and the community, offering guidance on available childcare options, financial assistance programs, health and safety (licensing and regulatory requirements, compliant procedures), risk factors, parental choice, and high-quality child-care choices; including but not limited to other support services. Your role involves conducting comprehensive assessments of families, centers, and providers' needs referring them to appropriate resources, and ensuring families have access to high-quality childcare that meets their needs in accordance with the policies and procedures delineated in the Childcare Operations Manual, utilizing NJ Grow Kids and CARES Systems. Our team communicates with internal departments and external systems ensuring accurate childcare, providers, and center resources are readily available throughout the childcare/early childhood education community.
Duties
- English and Spanish speaking is a must
- Educate families and caregivers on available child care options, including licensed centers, family child care homes, and other programs supported by CCRR.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, human services, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience in consumer education, family support services, or child care resource and referral services.
- Knowledge of child care licensing regulations, quality standards, and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and educate diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management systems.
- This position may require occasional travel within the region served by CCRR and flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Passion for supporting families and advocating for quality child care options.
- Must be knowledgeable in childcare, provider and centers and early childhood education development
- Must understand NJ Grow Kids Standards and how to utilize it in the childcare community
- Spanish speaking is a must
- Maintain, update the organizations website, social media platforms
- Create and distribute brochures, newsletters and other childcare publications
- Organize and publicize community events.
- Ability to enter data with a high degree of speed and accuracy

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, graphic arts designs and visual effect, presentations, Zoom)
- Provide personalized guidance and assistance to families in navigating the child care system, understanding licensing standards, and selecting appropriate care settings.
- Develop and deliver workshops, webinars, and training sessions for parents and caregivers on topics such as child development, health and safety in child care settings, and choosing quality care.
- Create and distribute educational materials, newsletters, and online resources to promote awareness and understanding of child care regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with community partners, child care providers, and stakeholders to advocate for policies and initiatives that support access to affordable, high-quality child care.
- Conduct outreach activities and participate in community events to raise awareness about CCRR services and resources available to families.
- Maintain accurate records and data related to consumer education activities, program participation, and outcomes.
- Stay informed about local, state, and federal child care policies, regulations, and funding opportunities to provide accurate and up-to-date information to families and stakeholders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $63,000.00 per year
