Overview
The Public Works Crew Leaders Provides lead worker assistance for a medium to large crew or to a number of various crews performing streets and other public works maintenance and repair.
Essential Functions
1 Leads and directs crews performing a wide range of strenuous labor for the streets maintenance activities within the City; provides guidance and direction for setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, spreading and laying asphalt or spreading crack seal for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs and gutters or streets; assists in the operation of air/jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs.
2 Provides on-site job training and demonstrates proper, safe and efficient work methods and standards; ensures all plans, materials, tools, and supplies are available for crew members.
3 Obtains and keeps required information or decisions from supervisors as needed; maintains and tracks records of expenses, work orders, schedules, and attendance of daily activities.
4 Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to equipment; checks and monitors for cleanliness of tools and equipment; directs and oversees the clean-up activities around the work site to leave premises clean and safe.
5 Provides work assignments and delegates work orders; fills out timesheets and some personnel documents and performs pre-trip inspections.
6 Provides quality customer service by communicating effectively with customers and responding to issues or concerns timely and professionally.
7 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs.
2 Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.
3 Leading, directing, and monitoring crews performing labor
4 Knowledge of standard colors, configuration, and placement of lane markings and traffic signs
5 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures
6 Ability to read, write, and develop reports.
7 Performing preventative maintenance, and addressing repairs when needed.
8 Performing work using large equipment and adhering to safety standards.
9 Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time.
10 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
11 Understanding traffic laws and streets maintenance activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
*This position is strictly for nights (Wed - Sun 9:30 pm until 6:00 am)*
EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE:
-
Three (3) years of experience in streets or public works involving construction, maintenance, or repair (e.g., street paving, maintenance of right-of-ways, alleys, sidewalks, etc.).
LICENSE:
-
Valid class A or B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a good driving record.

Applicants with a class A or B CDL, issued by a state other than Texas, must obtain a Texas class A or B CDL within the probationary period.

Salary Range
$50,207.67 - $58,984.84
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
