This position is a seasoned executive leading National’s strategic opportunities and business development effort for outside plant design and build services. The ideal candidate is well connected and respected in the telecommunications industry as a thought leader and problem solver for clients and business partners. The Vice President, OSP Business Development will value long term partnerships and have strong operational sensibilities. This position reports to our CEO and works closely with National’s Division and market line leaders.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with clients.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.
- Develop National’s strategic partnerships and business development strategy for OSP, including yearly and quarterly sales targets. Develop and manage strategic partnerships to grow business.
- Responsible for achieving National’s OSP revenue targets.
- Understand the technical and operational aspects of National’s OSP and EPC services. Engage customers in a consultative approach by leveraging a deep understanding of the work, our processes, and industry trends.
- Identify target partners and customers and generate leads, qualify opportunities, and secure large revenue opportunities.
- Lead business case development for opportunities deemed strategic to National.
- Prepare all documentation required for requests for proposals (RFPs). Lead the team’s response to RFPs utilizing National’s stage gate process. Provide executive review of major initiatives.
- Develop corporate strategy to pursue federal and local government programs with specific focus on developing National’s opportunities.
- Identify and apply for grants and other financial opportunities for the business.
- Present business or marketing opportunities to company executives and management.
- Present large opportunities requiring investment to National’s leadership team conduct associated financial modeling and assessment of growth opportunities, risks, and operational requirements.
- Work collaboratively with National leadership, Construction operations, Preconstruction, Engineering, Finance to source and structure deals that deliver value to our customers.

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, finance, engineering or related field master's degree is advantageous.
- 15+ years of experience in business development or related role within the telecommunications industry.
- Demonstrated fiber carrier relationships at the highest levels with key decision makers.
- Ability to use CRM platform to track and report opportunities and key metrics.
- Ability to think strategically while also operating tactically.
- Proven ability to drive sales process to a close must be motivated by closing deals.
- Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization.
- Ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services.
- Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Passionate about advancing America’s Telecom infrastructure by leveraging current knowledge in fiber communications.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed, with up to ~50% travel within the US.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills and ability to mentor and develop BD team.
