Position Title: Senior Director, Culture and People

Position Summary:
As part of the Culture and People team, the Senior Director will collaborate with the Office of the CEO to develop and implement comprehensive, sustainable short-and long-term plans and strategies that support the advancement of KABOOM!. This individual will also help create professional and personal development opportunities for employees to reach their full potential within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership
- In partnership with executive team, develop an annual budget and manage all aspects of the administration of budgeted funds within approved guidelines.
- Assist in the development of efficient succession and contingency planning.
- Build trust and credibility across the organization.
Culture and People Operations
- Lead all efforts and optimizes the Culture and People team in foundational human resource functions, programs, and goals including talent acquisitions, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits.
- Lead the development of a compelling employment brand to attract, hire and retain talent.
- Oversee all employee relations issues, including but not limited to internal investigations, review of disciplinary actions as well as administration/support of the grievance and appeal procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and practices.
- Evaluate internal organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure legal compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, multiple state and local employment laws and regulations.
- Utilize available data to improve analysis and reporting related to culture and people.
- Consult with legal counsel as directed by the office of the CEO on personnel matters.
- Implement and/or coordinate workforce development initiatives such as internships, mentor programs and retention strategies.
- Oversee the administration of all processes, procedures and regulations requirements for remote employees and identifies practices and procedures for a hybrid work environment.
- Support staff on all issues and will provide recommendations for appropriate follow up and follow through.
- Ensure that DEI is woven into the culture and fabric of KABOOM!. Ensuring that we as an organization are working in integrity and that all voices are heard.

- Knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A deep understanding of DEI concepts, theories, and best practices
- Lead improvements to current processes, team/organizational structures, and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
- Familiarity with current research, trends, and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey the importance of DEI, engage employees, and facilitate difficult conversations around sensitive topics.
- Facilitate education and/or training on DEI principles for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate all Departmental policies, procedures, processes, and actions with a DEI lens
- Design and analyze strategies focused on recruiting, engaging, and retaining a diverse workforce
- Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives
- This includes setting measurable targets, creating an action plan, and evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills to drive change and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Ability to facilitate discussions and create safe spaces for dialogue and learning
- Change Management: Ability to effectively manage and navigate organizational change related to DEI initiatives
- Evaluation and Measurement: Knowledge of evaluation methodologies and techniques to assess the impact and effectiveness of DEI initiatives
- Ability to measure outcomes, collect feedback, and make data-driven adjustments to improve programs and strategies

- Develop the skills, knowledge, and abilities of individuals through continuous learning and development opportunities at all levels including executives.
- Help develop and support employee onboarding and offboarding programs and leadership training, as well as development initiatives to ensure a well-trained workforce.

Education and Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in the Human Resources field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Experience in Non-profit management.
- Supervisory experience, including managing, developing and motivating staff.
- Working knowledge of current federal and state employment laws.
- Must possess attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to form relationships with employees at all levels of KABOOM!.

- Location: Bethesda, Maryland/Hybrid
