About this opportunity
Align Technology is looking for a Scale Up Process Technician for our San Jose, CA location. The Scale up Process Technician will work on process unit’s routine operation and maintenance/troubleshooting in our scale up/pilot facility. The Scale Up Technician must be organized and methodical in their approach as well as an excellent communicator.
In this role, you will…

Lead day to day operation of process equipment associated with scale up units in order to meet requirements stated in Standard Operating Procedures and instructions in Run Sheets. Ensure all equipment are functional, that standards of quality have been met, and maintain the safe operation of the production facility.

Perform pumping, mixing, reaction and purification units’ operation across multiples scales and various equipment platform at a high level of safety awareness.

Perform routine materials preparation and tracking inventory levels for critical raw materials.

Document and summarize data in laboratory notebook/lab report.

Setup and maintain necessary process equipment with good mechanical aptitude.

Multitask to support multiple units or other R&D work as necessary.

Communicate job status and equipment status.

Package completed jobs for transfer between facilities.

Work with various cross functional teams to understand and implement requirements in the workflow.

Work in a fast paced environment and meet critical deadlines.

Solve issues with attention to detail.
In this role, you’ll need …

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or the equivalent from an accredited four year College or University is required.

Less than 1 year of related experience desired
-
Good understanding process chemistry principles.

Knowledge of pilot- and lab-scale high temperature systems and materials handling.

Ability to read and understand SDS and technical drawings/operation procedure.

Moderate physical activity; might need to handle up to 50 lbs material with assistance.

Experience in the following areas would be beneficial: distillation and mixing of solutions, process control instruments and analytical instruments

Primary Location Base Salary Range: $38.33 per hour to $50.00 per hour USD
Base salary ranges are a guideline used to determine appropriate pay. Placement depends on the individual skills and experience level of a candidate plus the total compensation and equity across team members. For other locations outside of the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically. For field Sales roles, the salary listed is the base pay only and does not include the applicable commission plan. A cost of living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher cost areas in the U.S. Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.
