Must have knowledge of and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures. Technician may be first point of contact for customers so it is very important that customers are greeted and assisted in a friendly and professional manner. Technician must ensure accuracy of patient information and receive patient payment. Other responsibilities may include checking prescriptions for completeness and entering necessary information into computer to generate a prescription label and batch sheet (if necessary), filling and labeling prescriptions and prepackaging bulk medications, communicating with prescribers to receive refill authorization, receiving patient refills by telephone, directing calls or taking and relaying messages, organization and appearance of the pharmacy front-end, ordering and pricing front-end merchandise. Technician must work under the supervision of a pharmacist.
