Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Procurement and Inventory Coordinator, is responsible for managing the medication and supply procurement process, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and coordinating with suppliers to guarantee the availability of essential medications and supplies. The position requires contact with pharmacy staff, nursing staff, administrators, vendors, auditors, and senior management.

Qualifications:
- Must be a Texas licensed pharmacy technician.
- Two years’ experience in pharmaceutical procurement, inventory management, or supply chain logistics, in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.

Strong understanding of pharmaceutical products, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Proficiency in inventory management software.

Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Multisite inventory management experience preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Procurement Management

Identify pharmaceutical products and medical supplies required to meet the needs of the pharmacy.

Research, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers/vendors based on quality, pricing, and delivery timelines.

Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.

Place purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner to maintain sufficient inventory levels.

Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.

Monitor inventory levels regularly and anticipate demand fluctuations to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.

Conduct routine inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory records.

Implement inventory tracking systems and utilize software tools to streamline inventory management processes.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and timely delivery of pharmaceutical products.

Address any issues or concerns with suppliers promptly and effectively to resolve discrepancies or performance issues.

Collaborate with suppliers to forecast demand, plan procurement schedules, and implement supply chain improvements.

Evaluate supplier performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as FDA guidelines, DEA regulations, and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

Stay informed about regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to pharmaceutical procurement and inventory management.

Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities and documentation to support regulatory audits and inspections.

Collaborate with pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, to understand medication needs and optimize inventory assortments.

Coordinate with other departments, such as finance, operations, and clinical services, to align procurement activities with organizational goals and objectives.

Participate in cross-functional teams or committees to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings initiatives.

Assist with the training of newly hired technicians and/or student externs as assigned by the management.
