Job Summary:
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for accurately managing client payments and collecting fees, researching claims, and communicating with Clinicians, Clients, and the Billing team.
Remote position but prefer candidate is located in MA with ability to come into office on occasion.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Reviewing and confirming receipt of payments.
- Reviewing outstanding client balances weekly and reporting any collection problems or trends to the Operations Manager.
- Ensuring payment methods are current and accurate and collecting outstanding balances.
- Collects delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients, monitoring payments, following up with clients when payment lapses occur, and utilizing collection agencies, when needed.
- Communicating with clients about their appointment fees and payment methods.
- Researching claims and contacting insurance companies to ensure claims are processed/reprocessed properly or to determine reason for denials.
- Working with the Billing Team on communicating and interpreting Verification of Benefits (VOB).
- Utilizing health insurance portals.
- Enhances billing department and practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Communicate with patients regarding the current status of the testing process.
- Input new providers and staff to the Electronic Health Records System (EHRS).
- Schedule clients for final appointments.
- Assist in moving client files through various stages of the testing process.

Required Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in medical billing and coding using ICD-10 and CPT coding regulations and guidelines.
- Experience with technical aspects of electronic medical billing.
- Experience working in the mental health field and/or sensitive to the vulnerability many feel when reaching out for help around their eating issues.
- Preferred experience (1 year) with MassHealth Medicaid.
- Experience with Behavioral Health claims, including psychological and neuropsychological testing.com
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.

- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required for design, build, and fabrication.
- The employee may, on occasion, be required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Good close and far visual acuity.
