As a Quality Engineer, you will lead all aspects of product quality, providing technical direction for incoming and in-process inspections, leading root cause investigations, preparing deviations, waivers, and corrective action reports, and driving nonconformance and problem reports to closure.
In order to thrive in this role, you will have experience in planning, directing, and reporting on all quality-related activities that insured fulfillment of requirements while interfacing with management, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Busek researches, develops, and produces technologies for challenging space missions for small spacecraft in low-earth orbit, large geostationary satellites, and CubeSats and probes going to the moon and beyond. Our talented staff have collective expertise spanning in-space propulsion, space-borne sensors, materials science, manufacturing, and high-fidelity electronic design. Busek’s accomplishments include: the first US Hall Effect Thruster in space, the first Micro-PPT Thrusters, and the first flight Electrospray Thrusters. Our present efforts span high-volume and low-volume production of high-reliability in-space propulsion components and systems as well as development of novel processes and technologies.
Day to day to activities:
Summarize and analyze incoming, in-process, and final inspection data and use data to prioritize QA actions and efforts
Coordinate exchange of QA information between suppliers, subcontractors, and customers
Investigate internally generated, subcontractor, or vendor-caused deficiencies, report findings to the Material Review Board (MRB), close the loop on failures by performing root cause analyses, creating corrective action plans, and driving plans to closure
Provide technical direction to the inspection team
Mature quality processes as Busek moves from development to production, finding the balance between best practices and practical application
Desired skills:
Experience in Quality, Manufacturing, and/or Engineering with experience in a regulated environment (aerospace, medical, automotive)
Thorough knowledge of drawing Interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
Previous hands-on experience with troubleshooting and root cause investigation of nonconformances in electro-mechanical assemblies (5-Whys, fishbone diagrams)
Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes, such as machining of metals and thermoplastics
Ability to lead technical conversations relating to quality issues
Experience with standard inspection equipment and techniques such as CMM, height gages, calipers/micrometers, go/no-go gauges
