Family Nurse Practitioner Job Description
Duties:
- Provide primary care services to patients of all ages, including infants and children
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory and imaging tests
- Prescribe medications and other treatments
- Provide counseling on health promotion and disease prevention
- Manage patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and developmental disabilities
- Perform minor procedures, such as wound care.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
- Document patient care in electronic medical records (Athena)
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Current state license as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Certification by a recognized national certification board (e.g. ANCC or AANP)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in primary care or related field
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for patient care activities and equipment handling
- Knowledge of DME (durable medical equipment) is preferred
