Shane Slone is a dynamic and rapidly expanding Entrepreneur seeking a Controller/Accounting Manager to help manage several companies (see duties below). This is an excellent opportunity for someone with entrepreneurial aspirations or entrepreneurial experience. Please see description, duties, and details below.
As the Controller/Accounting Manager with Shane Slone on all things finance, tax or compliance related for his portfolio of companies (Current Nursing CE Central, Slone NCLEX review, and Luminous Nursing Staffing). All companies are in the digital nursing space. You will be an investigator, problem-solver, scheduler / arranger, and executor. You will be organizing, researching, overseeing, and reporting / planning on key financial / tax business endeavors. The ideal candidate is a resourceful, investigative problem-solver who isn’t afraid to provide recommendations and accountability.
This role requires excellent communication and resourcefulness. You will be working directly with Shane Slone on various projects; you must be responsive, adaptable, versatile, and comfortable with change.
We are looking for a self-starter who is highly skilled, confident, and eager to learn a broad range of new skills related to our start-up business strategy & operations. The ideal candidate will thrive with a wide range of responsibilities (with appropriate direction) and enjoy the ability to drive progress directly alongside Shane Slone. This is not a standard Accountant / CPA position - you will be actively involved in helping shape the Slone portfolio companies and maintain financial health and growth. Shane Slone is seeking a right-hand man/woman who can manage the financial aspects of these companies.

Professional requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of tax regulations, law, compliance, and strategy
- Prefer experience in creating presentations with key financial and strategic data
- Familiarity with GAAP principles
- Ability to critically analyze data and make recommendations
- Ability to research and find answer / solutions to complex financial or tax problems
Experience Requirements:
- 4+ Years of Accounting Experience
- CPA or CMA Certification required
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance or related field
- Experienced and proficient in QuickBooks
- Prefer experience with data analytics, creating budgets and comparing projected vs actual
- Prefer experience with payroll and payroll software, including registering necessary payroll accounts in various states
- Prefer experience with budget creation, modification, and planning
Duties:
- Tax planning, filing, payments and tracking
- Working with Shane Slone and tax counsel to create a tax strategy for various business ventures, investments, and other endeavors.
- Filing all necessary taxes (business, employee, local/state/federal, etc) for all Businesses owned by Shane Slone, including preparing and filing end of year business and personal taxes.
Payroll:
- Processing payroll for various companies using Payroll software (ADP or Journey)
- Registering all necessary payroll requirements such as disability, unemployment, and local / state taxes in various states and jurisdictions.
General Accounting:
- Monthly reconciliation of all companies expenses and incomes in QuickBooks and across various accounts (bank, credit card, etc.)
- Develop and maintain accounting systems
Accounts Payable and receivable:
- Manage all accounts payable and receive for all companies (large and small).
Projections, Budgets, and Data analytics:
- Create projections with management for various scenarios (with tax implications in mind) and
State compliance and registrations:
- Creating and maintaining appropriate registrations for operation in various states, including for payroll and general business activities.
Company Benefits:
- Manage and oversee payment of company benefits through payroll.
Reporting:
- Report to leadership weekly, monthly, or as-needed on key financial indicators and custom reports as-needed.

This is a full-time remote position that may require occasional travel.
Hours:
Working hours will generally be M-F 8-430 (flexible) EST, however the applicant is expected to be responsive to the needs of the CEO reasonably as needed. Our employees generally do not work more than 40 hours per week- even though this responsibility list looks large- you will be focusing on only a handful of portfolio companies. Efforts will be made to minimize working time on weekends and at night, but should be expected at times. We are willing to pay relocation for the right employee.
Salary: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
