Job Overview - General Summary
The Fertigation Technician will be responsible for ensuring all essential functions regarding irrigation and fertigation inside the cultivation department are executed and documented in alignment with the production schedule. The Fertigation Technician is responsible for maintaining irrigation tanks in accordance with both the irrigation schedule and the production schedule. This position reports directly to the Director of Cultivation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that irrigation and fertigation functions are completed in accordance with the cultivation schedule
- Check and balance EC & pH of stock tanks according to company standard operating procedures (SOPS) and perform regular calibration of nutrient testing instruments
- Collect and report nutrient concentrations by completing weekly runoff tests, sending samples for laboratory analysis, and monitoring grow media moisture content
- Responsible for installing and maintaining general irrigation equipment: valves, emitters, drip stakes, drip tubing, and bench lines
- Meticulous record keeping of all nutrient use
- Comply with company and product label safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work closely with the grow team to ensure the irrigation/fertigation plan is properly implemented and maintained
- Respond to system alarms and diagnose/troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively
- Refill nutrient stock tanks within the Irrigation Room on a weekly basis
- Tracking and managing the irrigation inventory
- Able to work variable shifts to meet business requirements. Including weekends, holidays, and over-time
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- At least 21 years of age
- A degree or certificate in horticulture or related field preferred
- Fluent in the Growlink fertigation platform or similar systems
- Fluent in seed-to-sale regulatory cannabis system (METRC)
- Familiar with cultivation ERP software
- Ability to perform volumetric calculations to achieve target nutrient concentrations
- Ability to multi-task with excellent follow-through skills
- Ability to wear a respirator for extended periods of time
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- High energy, enthusiasm, and the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Thorough knowledge of all cultivation protocols, policies, and procedures
- Awareness and understanding of the harvest schedule
- Proficient at all tasks in relation to cultivation
- Willingness to teach/train production associates who need assistance
- Ability to problem-solve and take initiative
- Ability to collaborate with the production teams effectively
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Skilled in general computer operating systems and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, etc.
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and signage/labeling accuracy
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, cutting, and fine manipulation
- Experience training and supervising others
- Outstanding problem-solver
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in high temperatures and humidity ranges found in all cultivation areas
- Ability to bend and lift loads not to exceed 50 pounds
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, cutting, and fine manipulation
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while maintaining focus
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and product
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
