Project Summary:
Our current project, Home at Maricopa, is a 536 Unit Multi-family community with 6 apartment buildings and a clubhouse on 18.8 acres in the City of Maricopa. The apartment buildings are 4 and 5 story concrete and steel construction buildings. The clubhouse is a single-story wood framed building.

Job Summary:
The Crane Operator is responsible for operating mobile cranes with telescoping and lattice booms to load, unload, move and position heavy material and equipment at various work sites and conditions. The Crane operator performs operator maintenance on equipment operated and inspects cables for wear and as necessary replaces them.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ability to operate, inspecting and maintaining cranes at boom lengths, angles and positions.
- Inspecting work site conditions prior to setting up the crane.
- Ability to simultaneously operate a cranes control, make difficult clearance judgements while watching the moving load and boom, and compensate for variations in the crane’s lifting capacity during position changes.
- Ability to ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed, machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools, supplies and equipment are accounted for and properly secured at the close of each work day.
- Performing the lift safely based upon weather conditions and the capacity of the crane.
- Perform crane inspection reports including a visual inspection of the crane and report any unsafe condition to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
- Ensure all crane permits and certifications are current.
- Prior experience working around noise, dust, welding and exhaust fumes and all types of weather.
- Know and understand the standard hand signals for controlling crane operations.
- Perform daily maintenance and inspections per operator’s manual.
- Keep proper tools on hand for the crane(s).
- Operate crane safely in accordance with SAM procedures at all times.
- Complies with all SAM safety policies and wear proper safety equipment at all times.
- Communicate with co-workers and be aware of personnel or vehicles working in an unsafe manner under the working crane at all times.
- Inspect cables and hoist blocks for damage and report if needed.
- Work as part of a team to get the job done safely and in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot work related problems using experience, job knowledge, and by communicating with others to solve the problem.
- Attend and participate in meetings including safety when required or requested.
- Annual crane physical required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of verified experience as a crane operator required.
- NCCCO/NCO certification from a reputable training facility, valid and in good standing.
- Ability to operate a Grove or Tadano RT mobile crane with minimum capacity 70-tons.
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction required or have the ability to obtain.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work in a hot non-climate control environment.
- Ability to utilize SAM Construction application on a smart phone, tablet or laptop.
- Must be experienced and able to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, estimating, and project schedules for constructability and conflict reviews specific to Multifamily construction.
- Strong working knowledge of the local multifamily construction industry and subcontractors.
- Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs.
- Understanding building permit, approval and inspection processes.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent communication and partnering skills to work effectively with subcontractors, consultants, internal staff, and regulatory agencies.
- Working Knowledge of OSHA regulations and accepted Safe Work practices for the Construction Industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand and walk project site for extended period of times.
- Able to sit in cab for extended periods of time
- Able to communicate, talk and/or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Occasionally required to but not limited to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs/steps into crane cab and/or forklift, and in proximity of loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments and on concrete floors.
- May require travel.
