JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
SUMMARY:
Tallgrass Energy is currently in need of one Environmental Permitting Manager to join our Houston based Capital Projects Team. This role will report directly to the Director of Environmental permitting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the overall coordination of environmental permitting for the successful design and construction of processing facilities, pipelines, terminals and associated infrastructure.

Manage and coordinate internal resources and outside consultants who provide permitting services in line with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) requirements, impacted State Land Office (SLO) requirements, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) requirements. Ensure compliance with all other federal, state, and local requirements such as floodplain permitting and storm water permitting and SWPPP/BMP requirements when necessary.

Formulate, plan and execute complex permitting strategies that keep all impacted internal and external stakeholders aligned on all project goals and objectives while ensuring scheduling and budgeting goals are maintained.

Communicate with the overall project team, properly relay critical permitting details, understand constructability concerns and needs and how permit constraints can affect construction, and provide pertinent updates during project meetings.

Collaborate with Commercial and Government Affairs groups to make sure all parties are apprised of permitting needs and potential obstructions and actively formulate proactive contingency plans to overcome all obstacles to meet project objectives.

Communicate project and permitting specifics with the appropriate regulatory officials.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Knowledge of pertinent regulations/programs including (but not limited to): CWA, ESA, NRHP, OPA, NPDES, MBTA and NEPA.

Knowledge of developing regulations, and how topics such as Environmental Justice are playing a role in permit acquisition.

Inform all Stakeholders of potential NGO influence in permitting activities and help formulate plans to communicate and collaborate effectively with these groups.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong problem-solving orientation; experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

Willingness to travel to project sites (up to 30% travel anticipated)

Familiarity with processing, midstream and terminal construction a plus.

Familiarity with working within an independent project team structure with other groups and roles, such as land and engineering is mandatory.

Strong time management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks/projects with tight deadlines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related degrees strongly preferred. Other degrees will be considered if combined with experience in environmental permitting and compliance in the oil and gas industry.

Minimum of fifteen years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance with demonstrable increase in responsibility and independence

Five to ten years of direct management experience of permitting resources within a project execution environment.

Experience working in the energy transportation industry (oil, gas or electrical transmission)

Experience working with state/federal/tribal environmental agencies
