Position Title: Third Shift Resident Support Assistant
Responsible To: Director of Resident Services
Position Status: Part-Time
Summary of Position:
This position provides for any resident care needs during 3rd shift, monitors security throughout the building and takes care of some basic housekeeping and administrative tasks. The position will require one to function as the 3rd shift in-charge staff person.
Principal Duties:
- Be available to residents by remaining visible as much as possible.

Document all significant resident activity and any resident behavioral issues or care needs which need to be addressed.
- Provide care in a manner that respects residents’ dignity and uses mental health recovery principles to encourage residents to seek wellness and reach their personal goals.

Ensure building security and complete regular walking rounds throughout the night.

In case of emergency or crisis, coordinate communication with on duty staff, emergency personnel and notify the on-call administrator as needed.
- Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications at all times. Administer PRN medications as needed and early morning medications (from the portable medication cart) as needed.
- Receive and give verbal reports of any significant resident issues or care needs at the beginning and end of the shift, completing updates of resident shift notes.
- Complete housekeeping tasks as assigned.

Complete administrative support tasks as assigned, including: Scanning resident files, filing and organizing resident files, purging former resident files when required; complete review of current resident inspection files; maintain accurate and updated profiles in electronic health record and medication administration record;
- Work to build and maintain healthy rapport with all residents and staff.

Attend staff or department meetings as able (recommend quarterly).
- Pray regularly for spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing of residents and for your own insight and wisdom.
Physical, Social, Emotional, and Spiritual Requirements:

Physical: Ability to accomplish the tasks associated with this position is essential. Must frequently lift and/or move 20 pounds, occasionally assist with lifting up to 100 pounds. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, reach above and below, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stay generally active throughout the work day.

Social: Strong rapport with staff, residents, families, and professionals is essential.
- Emotional: Skills of perception, understanding and caring for people are essential. He/she must be patient, calm under pressure, emotionally stable, and not easily-provoked.
- Spiritual: In a visible role, this position requires spiritual insight, maturity and patience, which comes out of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Schedule:
This position has the following full-time schedule of approximately 16 hours per week:

Weekends: Friday and Saturday nights, 11:00pm to 7:00am (additional hours may be available at times).
- Occasional training will be required in addition to and outside of regular work hours.

In addition to above requirements, all staff are encouraged, but not required to attend and participate in occasional special community events and meetings.
Professional Requirements:

Coursework in Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred, or experience in the field of human services.

The job requires a person who is organized, self-motivated, and who has the ability to work independently.

Experience in providing home care, long-term care, and/or experience in a similar Human Service agency is preferred.
- This position requires a committed Christian with a heart for working with mentally and emotionally challenged adults in a Christian residential care setting.

Driving a vehicle for business purposes is necessary for this position. That requires that he/she have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable MVR upon hire, and must at all times meet the guidelines in the Personnel Manual for an acceptable driving record.
