Summary:
Assists customers with new and renewal of motor vehicle tags and payment of motor vehicle tax. Follows all state rules and regulations as well as Treasurer Department policies in working with customers and handling of funds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.
- Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages.
- Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address questions.
- Compute, record, and proofread data, records, descriptions, and other information, for records or reports.
- Type, format, proofread, and edit correspondence and other documents.
- May count and handle money, receipt money from customers, balance cash in drawers, deposit funds in vault, balance funds, accounts and books.
- Maintain and update filing, mailing, database systems, records, either manually or using a computer related to update records and changes.
- Perform other duties such as data entry, refunds, daily deposits, mailings, filing, typing, correspondence, preparing bulk mail, records management and scanning.
- Respond to routine inquires from telephone callers and visitors. Direct information to other departments if necessary, and review documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper signatures.
- Use software to enter and produce correspondence, reports, tables, and financial schedules.
- Waiting on customers in person and handle processing of incoming mail payments by customers.
- Process new motor vehicle registrations, collect taxes, speak with customers regarding lienholder issues; respond to questions regarding ownership, title, and insurance.
- Daily close down motor vehicle station including computer, office machine, and lock money drawers.
- Count and handle money from drawer, receipt money from customers, and balance cash in drawers.
- Respond to routine inquires from telephone callers and visitors. Direct information to other departments if necessary, and review documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper signatures.
- Stock and inventory license plates, special placards, decals, to ensure smooth operation in motor vehicle.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist with year-end close out, reporting, and paperwork.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Education and/or Experience: High school education or G.E.D.; six months to twelve months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent from two year-college or technical school; or one year to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Must possess strong computer skills that at a minimum include Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Excel.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Capable of being bonded upon hire
Must pass the MOVRS (Motor Vehicle Registration Solution) course within first 6 months or whenever offered by State
The ATMM (Account Transaction Money Manager) course and exam within first 6 months or whenever offered by State
