The Jewish Association on Aging, a progressive non-profit healthcare continuum in the Squirrel Hill/Homestead area, is hiring a Full-Time Activities Assistant for a Memory Care unit.
Applicants must have prior Activities Assistant experience in Memory Care!
The Activity Assistant, as part of the service team, is responsible for assisting residents in maintaining their optimal level of functioning. He/she must understand, demonstrate and carry out the I’m Still Here™ philosophy of the Jewish Association on Aging and the Hearthstone Institute. The Activity Assistant must have a personal commitment to promote and advocate dignity, respect, individual rights, and a feeling of self-worth for each resident. The Activity Assistant is responsible for assisting the Activity Director in implementing activity programming for Assisted Living residents in order to meet their social, religious and psychosocial needs. The Activity Assistant must understand and carry out the wellness holistic philosophy of the Jewish Association on Aging. The Activity Assistant must have a personal commitment to promote and advocate dignity, respect, individual rights and a feeling of self worth for each resident. He/she must have the ability to work independently and cooperatively with other disciplines. Flexibility in adapting to the changing needs of the residents is essential.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma/GED
- Ability to read and write and to carry out instructions.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification-will be provided.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to, empathy for, and an interest in the elderly and those with cognitive impairments
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
