General Job Description:
The Technical Development Engineer (TDE) is a member of the Commercial team and reports directly to the Sr. Sales Manager - Automotive. The TDE’s primary role is support of the commercial and quality organizations by providing on-site customer support, diagnostics, and solutions.
Core Duties/Responsibilities:
Primary tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Work with cross-functional teams (internal & at customer) to troubleshoot customer process issues and lead issue resolution efforts at the customer location in accordance with Hanwha Azdel’s recommended processing guidelines
- Identify and report on competing product activities at customers
- Duplicate customer processes at Hanwha Azdel’s laboratories in order to facilitate validation of new product developments, launch support, and quality issues
- Lead productivity improvement projects and other technical development efforts at strategic customer sites
- Use of DMAIC and DFSS analytical tools and problem solving skills such as GR&R, DOE and mistake proofing to resolve technical processing issues
- Develop and maintain Hanwha Azdel troubleshooting guidelines and lessons learned database
- Act as technical focal point at customer and Tier 1 representing product and company
- Address customer problems that are related to materials
- Coordinates technical support from analytical, samples, technical meetings as required for successful commercialization or quality resolution.
- Communicates customer feedback on products (including quality issues) to engineering, Q.C., and Account Managers.
- Works with the Quality organization to identify and resolve quality issues
- Writes Technical Reports and Visit reports
- Travel Required: 60-70% (approximately)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering; Other disciplines may be considered depending upon experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, open to listening and sharing experiences
- Strong comprehension and utilization of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & Outlook
- Strong interpersonal and team skills
- A demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions;
- Problem solving / analytical skills required
- Candidate must be a highly motivated, self-starter with effective communication skills, both oral and written

Preferred Qualifications:
- OEM or Tier 1 experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technology field
- Experience with ISO quality systems, practices and procedures
- Experience in using data acquisition systems, data analysis, and reporting tools
- One to three (1 to 3) years’ experience in thermoforming / compression molding.
- Six-Sigma certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
