The Commercial Insight Development Manager provides leadership in the development, distillation and communication of data, insights and information that can assist the leadership team in making strategic choices and assist the sales team in making decisions and developing growth opportunities with top retail customers.
The position requires expertise in data retrieval, organization and management, data modeling (Excel, Microsoft BI, or other tools). The candidate must have the ability to distill complex data into presentations, charts or other communication is critical such that the Executive team and Sales leaders can understand quickly. Being able to develop financial models to maximize trade investment, profitability and/or growth will also be key to the candidate’s success.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
· Lead in synthesizing data into clear actionable insights and recommendations for growth opportunities directed to the Executive team and the Sales leaders on a monthly basis;
· Develop and update ongoing data scorecards & dashboards (using category, consumer and wholesaler data) for all Clearly Canadian and competitive products;
· Actively lead the retail pricing analysis to understand the impact of promotion depth, frequency and timing and product interaction on Clearly Canadian’s overall growth and make recommendation to optimize retail revenue growth;
· Develop a suite of Retailer-Ready Presentation slides to assist in listing, expansion of display and general growth for top customers as required by the sales leaders;
· Lead in application of advanced business analyses in areas such as pricing, marketing mix, market structure, pre-market assessments & test market assessments, and purchase decision hierarchies;
· Drive system productivity by leading the development, management and continuous improvement of all key system and company processes and routines;
· Develop a results oriented, analytic culture through leading a best in class knowledge & insights center of excellence
· Assist the Sales and Financial Planning teams on the Monthly Business Review (‘MBR’) and forecasting processes
· Assist in the maintenance and organization of the syndicated data services (IRI/SPINS/84.51/Retailer Portals, interactive consumer communications, and custom research for assigned brands
· Coordinate with Clearly FP&A team to ‘translate’ retail sales into ‘shipments to customers’ (ie. Distributors, DSD and wholesale customers);
· Assist in the sales planning cycle by tracking the retail value of the Risks & Opportunities as provided by sales team for inclusion in monthly business and assess overall impact to Clearly Canadian full year retail and shipment plans;

· Be the Primary contact for key supplier partnerships to leverage data services
Minimum Requirements
· Integral knowledge of IRI/AC Nielsen, VIP and other US commercial data sets
· 7+ years of progressively responsible, relevant experience in the fields of commercial analytics and consumer insights;
· University or College degree (BS/Masters/Ph.D.) in relevant field such as Business, Marketing, Marketing Research, Psychology, Sociology, other Social Sciences, Statistics & Experimental Design, & Food Sciences; Advanced educational degree preferred, not required;
· Expert skills in business software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Microsoft BI or other relevant applications);
· Understanding of US Retail environment is a must
· Work experiences with both Manufacturer and Research Supplier/Vendor/Consultancies a “plus”;
· Cross-functional business experiences a “plus”
· People management skills for productive participation on brand unit teams
· Additional experience in an entrepreneurial environment is ideal, and a self-starter mindset in a virtual work-from-home environment is fundamental
