Textile Assistant and Sample Librarian
We are a small design company working in hand-printed textiles near the Crenshaw neighborhood of Los Angeles. Our customers are mainly designers working for demanding clients, so we work hard to ensure every customer’s expectations are quickly met. We are a tight-knit team where everyone wears a number of hats to keep the business running efficiently. If you plan to bribe us - donuts are always accepted!
This position is full time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday.
Wage: $21/hour
Responsibilities:
- Receive daily orders for samples via email and phone. Prioritize preparation and shipping in order of receipt.
- Interface with our showrooms to ensure they are fully stocked with all samples and are quickly replenished when needed.
- Maintain and organize label files, ensuring all are up to date and information is correct.
- Work with sales team to proactively mark fabrics out of stock to have additional textile samples made as they begin to run low.
- Answer emails and phone calls as needed.
- Oversee and follow up with sewing rooms vendors to insure production of new samples happens in a timely fashion.
- Assist sales team with projects as needed including the organization and labeling of display fabrics sent to showrooms, collecting fabrics needed for events, planning and preparation for mass mailings as needed (typically, when a new collection is launched), etc.
- Keep the textile samples organize, stocked and up to date.
Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Clients use these fabric samples to place orders, so it is imperative that they are organized, sent, and labeled correctly.
- Time sensitive customer service experience. Often, requests require a quick turnaround and must be processed same day. If unanswered emails in your inbox drive you crazy - this is the job for you.
- Willingness to learn our full line of textiles and wallpaper for SKU and color like the back of your hand.
- Necessary computer skills - Microsoft Office, Gmail and Fedex/UPS shipping label creation.
- Ability to multitask and quickly assess / prioritize a set of tasks easily.
- Proactive, self-motivated approach to working, requiring little daily oversight.
- A love for design and textiles is a major plus!
