We are seeking a diligent and driven Criminal Defense Attorney to join our team on a probationary basis. This position requires travel across Southern California to various criminal courthouses, advocating on behalf of our clients and championing the spirit of restorative justice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for criminal defense, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks independently.
Responsibilities:
- Monday Through Friday 8AM-2PM
- Travel to criminal courthouses throughout Southern California.
- Effectively manage case continuances, negotiate with prosecutors, and advocate for our clients.
- Draft and present mitigation packets to demonstrate client circumstances and potential for rehabilitation. Also draft mitigation packets requesting dismissal when the prosecution has tunnel vision.
- Draft and argue legal motions to support client defense strategies.
- Finalize plea agreements, ensuring the best possible outcomes for clients.
Probationary Period Details:
- This is a 6-month probationary role with a part-time schedule (8 AM - 2 PM).
- Successful completion of the probationary period may and will most likely lead to a full-time position.
Post-Probationary Advancement Opportunities:
- Transition to a full-time role with a starting salary of $9,000 per month.
- Engage in trial work independently.
- Office hours post-court until the completion of daily tasks, with the flexibility to leave before 5 PM if tasks are completed (if not, work until 5 PM).
- Participate actively in social media and marketing efforts for the firm.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of California.
- Proven experience in criminal law, with strong negotiation and legal research skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and a high level of attention to detail.
- Passion for criminal defense and ending mass incarceration
