Foresight Automation is looking to hire a General Manager for our Fort Worth location.
Foresight Automation designs and builds custom automated industrial machinery, robotic assembly/test systems, data acquisition systems, industrial control panels, and more. In this role, you will manage a team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to provide specification, design, programming, and commissioning expertise. You will also manage the administrative staff, including the assembly shop manager and his team, which consists of electrical panel builders and general mechanical assemblers. You will also manage a sales staff internally, influencing a much broader sales staff reached nationwide through Foresight’s parent company, Purvis Industries.
Responsibilities
As the General Manager of Foresight Automation, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Manage the sales, operations, engineering, and production teams, keeping them to an overall schedule while maintaining standards and improving efficiency.

Study detailed specification documents and drawings to understand project requirements.

Evaluate designs the engineering team presents for their feasibility and commercial success through design reviews and 1:1 mentoring and review meetings.

Conduct thorough reviews of every sales proposal before offering and every engineering design before production to ensure the highest quality standards, engineering practicality, safety, and adherence to internal and customer specifications.

Verify that the sales process is followed regarding proposal creation and costing standards.

Verify that the engineering staff uses the engineering process correctly and that quality packages are delivered on time to the operations staff for procurement.

Verify that the operations process is followed and that material and labor are correctly scheduled and brought together for an efficient assembly.

Verify that the assembly process is followed and that quality workmanship and safety standards in the shop areas are followed consistently.

Be a leader by mentoring other employees, providing solid engineering advice and guidance based on your experience, helping to set work standards, etc.
The position reports to the Purvis Industries Corporate Executive team.
Core Requirements
- B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or similar) from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum 5 years experience designing industrial systems, including control, safety, mechanics, fluid power, and machinery.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in engineering management.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks and can open and review drawings and design packages.
- Knowledge of safety system components, design practices, and relevant standards
- Ability to communicate technical concepts both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient with Windows-based applications such as Word and Excel
- Proficient in project management concepts (Gantt charts, resource allocation, risk management)
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail are a must.
- Ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage time efficiently.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Pass a pre-employment background check.
Preferred Skills
- Previous sales or other customer-facing experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Wrike Project Management web service
- Knowledge of UL508A control panel design practices
- Experience with robot cell design and considerations
- Experience working on EPC projects, reviewing specifications and VDRs, submitting RFI’s, Change Orders, etc.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of prior work experience in an engineering team environment and an additional three to five years of engineering management. Extensive experience in project and risk management is also ideal, as the role deals with many simultaneous projects with tasks for each spread throughout the organization. EPC experience is a plus, as some of our jobs require the meeting schedule and documentation rigor of dealing with engineering firms. Previous experience in industrial manufacturing or industrial distribution is also a plus.
Job Type: Full-time, 8-hour days M-F. Schedule is semi-flexible.
Travel: <10%
Pay: $140-160K. Salary commensurate with experience. A company vehicle is included.
