JCCA’s Home Finding Program is seeking a Recruiter/Trainer to join their team. The Home Finding Department is responsible for the recruitment, training and certification of foster homes for children served by the Foster Home Program
The Recruiter/Trainer provides sound clinical assessments of Foster Parent applicants’ ability to provide safe and nurturing homes for children in foster care. The Recruiter/Trainer supports and monitor the certification process from initial inquiry through certification.
JCCA seeks to maintain a high standard of care for all children while offering foster parents consistent support and excellent customer service.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct community outreach and facilitate presentations in effort to identify potential foster parents
- Develop and implement creative approaches toward the recruitment and retention of Foster Parents, especially kinship resources
- Engage in collaborative efforts with case planning teams, program team members and other units to improve the chances to secure kinship placements for children in non-kinship placements (Participation in Bed Development, Transitional Meetings and Family Team Conferences, etc.)
- Screen prospective foster home applicants; plan routine home visits to assess viability of potential foster homes
- Orient and support foster parents so they may provide loving structured homes and comply with the requirements of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to open recertify or re-approve foster/adoptive homes
- Provide pre-certification and ongoing training for foster parent applicants
- Conduct Foster Parent Home Study interviews and prepare comprehensive reports
- Maintain foster care records and data input into Evolv and Connections systems
- Develop and implement creative mediums to recruit foster home applicants
- Collaborate with staff members of case planning teams to support and maintain foster parent retention
Hybrid work schedule – remote days available
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required – preferably BSW or related degree
- Minimum of two years’ experience in child welfare; experience in foster care and adoption is preferred
- Must be highly organized with ability to meet program deliverables and deadlines
- Demonstrated skillset to identify and build a network of multi-level community relationships
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; should be comfortable with public speaking
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule - some evenings as needed to meet client needs
- Ability to travel in and around the metropolitan New York City
- Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred
