The Care Giver Outreach Assistant (CGOA) will be responsible caring for infants and children during BIH in-person Group sessions. The CGOA will be responsible for establishing a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for babies and children to learn and thrive while under their care. The CGOA will create fun and enriching age-appropriate activities where children can enhance their developmental skills including language, fine and gross-motor development, cognitive development, social and emotional development, and self-esteem. The CGOA will maintain a professional attitude and will establish positive relationships with parents, children, and program staff.
The CGOA will assist with managing lessons and activity schedules, setting up activities, and will engage in activities with the children.
The CGOA will model proper social interactions with children and they will keep the children active and engaged. The CGOA may also be required to provide individualized care such as feeding babies and changing diapers when needed, and they will be required to prepare snacks and clean the environment after each session ends.
The CGOA will maintain clean, safe, and sanitary environments and will adhere to proper hygiene methods such as frequent hand-washing and wearing gloves, when needed.
This position will also require the CGOA to have excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills and be able to provide parents with updates on their child’s experiences while under the CGOAs care.
In addition, the CGOA will be required to assist BIH Community Outreach Liaisons (COL) with outreach and recruitment activities. While assisting the COL, the CGOA may assist with identifying recruitment locations, distributing outreach materials such as program fliers, and assist COLs with setting up for outreach presentations.
Minimum of an Associate of Arts Degree in early childhood education;
· Three (3) years of professional child care experience (infants, toddlers, preschoolers);
· Cheerful and friendly personality; ability to build rapport with new parents; patient and empathetic; organized and familiar with childcare best practices including infant care; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; critical thinking and problem- solving skills.
