Position: Adult Day Services Senior Behavior Specialist
Summary:
Block Institute is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Behavior Specialist to join our team. The Senior Behavior Specialist is responsible for the behavioral assessment and management of the behavior team. This role involves the development and implementation of individual and/or group Behavior Intervention and Treatment plans, either directly or through the direction of assigned team members.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Use discretion and independent judgment involving the comparison and evaluation of possible courses of conduct, with judgments affecting business operations or having significant financial impact.

Authority to waive or deviate from established rules or policies, maintaining open communication with direct supervisors and upper administration for best business practices.

Provide and oversee behavioral services for the Adult program, either individually or through direct reports.

Maintain consistent communication with Directors regarding business practices.

Oversee the completion of required annual evaluations of Individuals’ adaptive behavior skills and triennial testing of intellectual function within the adult programs.

Participate in annual Team meetings or reviews and required/requested reviews or case conferences, as needed.

Complete and document monthly psychological services reviews, including behavior plans.

Develop and participate in the Individual’s Behavior Intervention Plan and treatment program plans as a behavior team member.

Provide crisis intervention and follow-up services as needed.

Consult with day program rooms to ensure active treatment and appropriate management of individuals and their behaviors.

Train staff on behavior management principles and procedures, including functional behavior assessments and best practices.

Ensure continuity and coordination of services with families and other service providers.

Provide ongoing consultation with clinical, supervisory, and other staff regarding behavioral issues for individuals under their care.

Assist in the completion and documentation of monthly reports, service reviews, behavior plans, annuals, and case conferences.

Participate in the preadmission process, including evaluation, screening, and recommendations within adult programs.

Instruct direct reports and staff in carrying out programs as written, working regularly with Behavior Specialists, Behavior Coaches, and Assistant Behavior Coaches.

Provide behavior management consultation to outside entities when applicable or required.

Demonstrate appropriate interactions between co-workers and Individuals in accordance with OPWDD regulations and Block Institute policies and procedures.

Participate in internal incident review committees or other committees as required.

Attend required in-service training and demonstrate compliance with OPWDD regulations and Block Institute policy and procedure requirements.

Learn and master the use of software systems and technology utilized by the Agency on a program-by-program basis.

Influence hiring, transfer, suspension, layoff, recall, promotion, discharge, reward, or discipline of employees, adjusting grievances, assigning duties and schedules, and responsibly directing employees.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise Behavior Specialists, Behavior Coaches, and Assistant Behavior Coaches.
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field.

5 years of experience in behavior management.

BCBA, LMSW, LMHC, or related license/certification required.
