Maintenance Technician – Electrical and Instrumentation
Our client an industrial chemical company in Detroit is hiring an experienced maintenance technician. This is a direct hire opportunity, Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm (flexible), weekends as needed.
Description
- Receives instructions covering the schedules and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done covering AC and DC equipment such as motors, VFD’s, controls, switches, circuit breakers, control panels, PLC, and lighting circuits.
- Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or safety of workplace, or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
- Interpret and analyze drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and trace electrical circuits to determine material and replacement needs, and to select a logical approach to “troubleshooting” and repair problems.
- Complete all applicable documentation for actions taken.
- Able to read & interpret schematics, drawings as well as comprehension of electricity & circuits
- Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, and lubricates electrical equipment taking all safety precautions.
- Perform field maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems in a timely, accurate, and safe manner: Calibrate pressure, temperature, flow and various other instrumentation
- Adjusts equipment to obtain operation characteristics.
- Makes repairs as required to equipment such as main motor drives, transmitters (level & pressure), control panels, relays, interlocking control systems, electronic devises, PLC and circuit breakers.
- Assists Mechanical Maintenance Technicians when required.
- Operates simple machine tools such as drill press, power saws, etc.
- Aids and supports operating technicians, outside contractors, engineering support or others assigned to repair or replace equipment or otherwise maintain operating efficiency of plant.
- Dismantle, inspects, repairs, adjusts or replaces faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, etc. Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, pre-wires boards, etc.
- Adjusts contacts, relays, bus riggings, etc. Reconnects terminal leads, panel boards and distribution feeders.
- Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls and fixtures, and wires from replacement units to switches. Makes all required splices and connector joints.
- Experience with chemical processing instrumentation from manufacturers such as Emerson, Yokagawa, Endress-Hauser, Drager and Vega.
- Perform other tasks related to electrical, electronic, and general maintenance.

Pay: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour
