Seeking: A full-time licensed RN or LPN to join our IDD Medicaid provider agency based in Wilson & Goldsboro, but provide service and influence in our surrounding AFL homes.
Requirements:
- 10 years of full-time experience as an RN required.
- Must have RN/LPN license in North Carolina, or a multi-state RN/LPN license from another state. License must be maintained throughout employment tenure at A Caring Heart.
- Ability and willingness to travel to locations 30-45 minutes from Wilson office.
- The agency nurse will monitor home medications, by making visits to AFL homes quarterly and as needed for expired medications and to ensure that medications are organized per state standards/regulations.
- Be available by phone at all times to assist staff or answer questions when needed, including after-hours and weekends.
- Strong assessment skills, the ability to work independently and as a team.
- Strong knowledge of medications, electronic MAR's, and prescriptions.
- Self-motivated, excellent problem solver, and initiative to follow up.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer skills such as: learning and navigating a variety of websites and project management systems, manipulating data in Excel, creating Word documents, etc.
About this Position:
- The agency nurse is responsible for ensuring that NC state regulations and A Caring Heart Case Management’s policies and procedures are properly followed pertaining to medication administration.
- The agency nurse will oversee MARs for AFL’s & Day Programs and doctor visits.
- The agency nurse will document proper disposal of excess and expired medications.
- The agency nurse will review the controlled count records on quarterly basis during home visit ensuring documentation is correct.
- The agency nurse will monitor MAR late reports for signature.
- The agency nurse will assist with making doctor appointments and seeing that clients are getting there with updated information in med packets. The nurse will communicate with doctors; offices as needed to request referrals, orders, labs, etc.
- The agency nurse is responsible for ensuring that all staff are properly trained prior to administering medications. The agency nurse will also be responsible for any client specific training such as Hoyer lift training, G-Tube feeding, injection training, or daily sugar testing for any diabetic clients.
- Ensure Medications Lockboxes are set up correctly for any new AFLS. Monitor new AFL providers to ensure meds are administered at appropriate times. Ensure current scripts are available for all meds.
- Order incontinences supplies, nutritional drinks and supplies including gloves, wipes, med cups, syringes, PPE, etc., for AFL clients as needed.
- Ensure Consumers’ interests and safety is first and foremost. Ensure Consumer Rights and Confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain a state licensure for RN/LPN License, if any changes occur it is reported to Director immediately.
- Attend AFL Committee and Complex Needs Meetings.
Nice To Have:
- Experience working with IDD population preferred but not required.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
