Bridging the Gap Family Services, LLC is the premier provider of community-based behavioral health services in Virginia, with 2 offices throughout the Commonwealth. We specialize in Community Stabilization and Mobile Crisis or; Intensive In-Home Counseling and Mental Health Skill-Building. We are currently seeking Part-Time and Full-Time Mental Health Community Counselors for our Richmond and Manassas, VA offices. The Mental Health Community Counselor plays a key role in providing excellent care to those suffering from mental illnesses (and their families).
What we’ll expect:
- Provide direct clinical services to clients, including individual, family, group and issue-specific/educational groups (parenting skills, anger management, substance abuse interventions); services are provided primarily in the home and community
- Assess clients’ needs through interviews and observations, develop treatment plans, and make referrals as needed to the appropriate services
- Collaborate with the treatment and support team to include co-workers, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other providers and professionals
- Respond to crisis situations as they arise; provide counseling and treatment
- Document case activities for both clinical and billing purposes
- Partner with Clinical Director to increase effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the human services or similarly related field
- 1+ year(s) direct clinical experience with children, adolescents and/or adults
- Passion for helping others
- Positive energy and a preference for working in a team environment
- Ability to appropriately assess clients’ needs and make recommendations accordingly
- Strong communication skills with the client, treatment team, and support network
- Strong listening skills to effectively treat clients
- Attention to detail in an effort to accurately and thorough document clients’ charts and make recommendations
- Ability and comfort in traveling to clients, homes or within their community; a valid driver’s license
- Registered with the Board of Counseling as QMHP Adult and/or Child
