Title: Human Resource & Safety Assistant

General Purpose of the Job:
We are seeking a dedicated HR and Safety Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in various human resources and safety functions within the organization. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Summary of Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial candidate assessments.
- Coordinate new hire orientations and assist with the onboarding process, including preparing new hire paperwork and conducting employee orientations.
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in administering employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
- Support HR Manager in organizing training sessions, workshops, and other developmental programs for employees.
- Assist in drafting and distributing company policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Assist with safety initiatives and programs to promote a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in the investigation of workplace accidents and incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain safety-related documentation, including incident reports, training records, and safety data sheets.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant HR and safety regulations and best practices.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the HR Manager or Safety Officer.
- Serve as the backup for the time approval process to ensure accurate and on time data for payroll processing.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in HR or safety administration is an advantage.
- Knowledge of HR and safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
