OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall plant maintenance of our 35,000 square foot facility, managing a maintenance technician who will report directly to the maintenance manager, and the coordination of maintenance activities associated with all departments. The role will require driving continuous improvement, establishing new maintenance foundations, principles, and systems to create a consistent preventive maintenance program. The qualified candidate will require the ability to model the way for others by practicing what is preached, to create and maintain a workplace culture that engages and motivates associates at all levels.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands and follows all established safety, HACCP, GMP and Company policies related to maintenance and food safety.
- Participates in plant staff, shift and safety meetings, and conducts regular departmental meetings and departmental training based on needs assessment.
- Develop new methods and procedures to optimize manufacturing efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Maintains direct contact with the operations department on the latest improvements to plant machinery and systems to more effectively increase manufacturing performance and reduce operating costs.
- Investigates and diagnoses causes of breakdowns and develop programs and solutions to reduce/eliminate future occurrences.
- Determines and controls maintenance budget to ensure efficient use of funds and reduce/eliminate repetitive purchases by identifying and eliminating root causes.
- Responsible for the selection, training, and development of shift personnel to attain department goals.
- Work closely with the maintenance technician, production supervisors, and all other support roles to provide overall coordination of maintenance activities.
- To drive the daily achievement of planned maintenance activities and response to unplanned stoppage events.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
- Stationary engineer or equivalent work experience and relevant years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
- Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external points of contact.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
- Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
- Standard shift is M-F with expected hours to provide coverage to all 2 shifts as required.
- Ability to work extended days and/or weekends with flexibility to switch shifts as needed to support team and key initiatives.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Five (5) years of experience in a maintenance field, ideally supporting high speed food manufacturing.
- Proven success at leading maintenance improvement projects and people development.
- Ammonia refrigeration systems
- Ability to read schematics.
- High pressure boiler & steam systems
SKILLS:
- Able to organize, coordinate, and direct completed maintenance tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communications abilities.
- High energy level, ability to maintain a positive attitude and to motivate others.
- Solid analytical and technical skills, including problem-solving
- Recognized skills in Engineering and Maintenance.
- Knowledge, understanding, and passion for continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge and understanding of the cost drivers of Maintenance in manufacturing operations.
