Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will work with patients of all ages to diagnose and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Your expertise will help improve communication skills and enhance the quality of life for individuals in need.
Duties:
- Evaluate patients to determine their speech, language, and swallowing abilities
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results
- Provide therapy sessions to improve speech articulation, fluency, voice quality, and language skills
- Assist patients in developing alternative communication methods, such as sign language or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure effective treatment outcomes
- Educate patients and their families on techniques to enhance communication at home
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of critical care, hospital, pediatrics, and acute care settings
- Proficiency in conducting patient assessments and developing appropriate treatment plans
- In-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology related to speech, language, and swallowing functions
- Ability to provide case management services for patients with complex needs
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in speech therapy practice
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Empathy and patience when working with individuals facing communication challenges
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Valid state license or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Previous experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist is preferred but not required
