The Vice President of Capital Construction and Engineering will manage all major construction, minor construction, and facility improvements and interface with mentors, and coaches Executives, IT, and Operations with respect to the building structure, electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and maintenance conditions and initiatives.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Abilities
Confers with construction and Parkway personnel to address matters such as work procedures, sequencing and construction problems as needed, formulates reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs.
Prepares budget and scope estimates for proposed construction as recommendations are made and the scope changes.
Inspects and reviews construction work, repair projects, and reports to ensure work conforms to plans and specifications as set forth by construction documents and contracts.
Plan, organize, contract, direct and monitor activities with construction and improvement of structures, facilities, and systems construction workers in accordance with plans and specifications as needed on construction sites to ensure project meets plans and specifications.
Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to administrative staff, contractors, workers, and clients as needed.
Investigates reports of damage as needed throughout projects at construction sites to ensure proper procedures are being carried out.
Enforce, train and/or cross train facility managers in company and maintenance policies and procedures.
Maintains ongoing rapport and effective reporting with other Parkway Management to facilitate flow of current information as needed such as departmental activities.
Provides guidance and answers questions for facility owners and corporate management regarding construction activities and plans as required.
Protects the physical integrity of all the properties through ongoing inspections at a minimum annually and making recommendations to maintenance supervisors for outside consultants to conduct structural and other studies, reporting accordingly.
Secures and reviews estimates/proposals to ensure that all workmanship and materials meet the necessary applicable codes and company standards.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree desirable. Architectural or engineering field preferred. 15+ years general design and construction experience with 10+ years in a management capacity.
15+ years experience in budgeting, planning and executing design and construction projects. Experience with projects exceeding $5,000,000 desirable. Proven ability to communicate effectively with employees and external clientele. Prior experience with personal computers and various software, including database and CAD packages desirable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel 35% of the time.
