Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Administrative Services.
Under direction of the Superintendent/President, the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Administrative Services provides administrative leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the District's financial and business activities; serves as chief business officer for the District. This position provides overall leadership in assigned areas ensuring that services and programs reflect the district's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Supports anti-racist practices and policies through institutional actions.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: The starting annual salary range is $182,440 - $221,757. There are five annual step movements; initial placement will be at step 1, unless approved by the Superintendent/President.

Benefits: With no monthly premium contribution from the employee, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes family medical, dental, vision, EAP benefits and employee life insurance. Additional voluntary life insurance is available for employee purchase. Benefits are effective the first of the month following hire date.
Holidays and Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn twenty-one (21) days of vacation and twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. Vacation leave increases with the length of service. There are twenty (20) paid holidays annually.
Retirement: This position is eligible for CalSTRS/CalPERS Retirement.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The successful candidate will support institutional success by executing the following duties:

Provides leadership for the directors of Fiscal Services, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Facilities, Safety/Security, Maintenance and Operations, enabling them to effectively carry out their respective roles; oversees the program review process for these departments to evaluate and advance operations.

Provides leadership of Auxiliary Services, e.g., Child Development Center, Food Services, Bookstore, and Student Housing.
-
Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates program managers and other staff; coordinates the work of Administrative Services with other major college divisions.

Provides leadership regarding public health and safety.
-
Serves as the district liaison to legal services.
-
Oversees development and monitoring of the District budget consistent with District goals and applicable law; advises the Superintendent/President of fiscal implications of pending District actions.

Prudently manages college investments; establishes methods to evaluate the effective use of District funds; assists others with internal financial/budget management matters.

Oversees an annual audit of financial activities by an external audit organization; prepares reports results to the Superintendent/President and the Board of Trustees.

Reviews and makes recommendations regarding the development and utilization of District facilities related to Administrative Services; evaluates feasibility of the District's rented facilities and negotiates leases.

Serves on the Planning and Budgeting Committee which determines the planning, staffing, and capital outlay needs of the District; presents recommendations; articulates plans; serves on or chairs multiple committees.

Manages the District's risk management program including property, liability, worker's compensation, and student accident insurance; represents the District at risk management joint powers authorities (JPA's); advises the Superintendent/President regarding related policies and decisions.

Researches and analyzes information/data; prepares or supervises the preparation of a variety of District, State, and Federal reports; makes presentations.

Develops, negotiates and authorizes contracts and agreements.

Attends Board of Trustees meetings; prepares agenda materials and reports.

Represents the District to appropriate local, regional, and state agencies and organizations such as the Chancellor's Office, the Chief Business Officers Organization, and related task forces.

Reviews related legislation, code, policies, and procedures; apprises others of pending or needed changes to current practice; recommends the development of or revision to policies and procedures.

Works variable hours as needed including evenings and weekends; additional duties as assigned.

Serves as acting Superintendent/President as needed; performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent/President.

Participates in the District's collective bargaining processes and may serve as a Board representative in negotiations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring; including but not limited to a Live Scan background check and completion of TB Test.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
This is an Educational Administrator position.
A Master's degree and one year of formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the assignment, or the equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications/Other Requirements:
The employee may periodically be required to travel to a variety of locations. If operating a vehicle, the employee is required to have a valid California driver's license.
