Job Summary:
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business for a P&N machine shop specializing in precision machining services. This role requires a proactive individual who can identify and pursue sales opportunities, provide technical expertise to clients, and deliver exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Generation:
- Identify and target potential customers in various automotive, aerospace, medical, and manufacturing industries.
- Develop and execute a sales strategy to achieve sales targets and expand the customer base.
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and understand industry trends.
2. Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Conduct regular visits to customer sites to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Provide technical support and expertise to customers, addressing their machining requirements and specifications.
3. Quotation and Proposal Management:
- Prepare and present detailed quotations and proposals to customers.
- Negotiate terms and pricing to secure profitable deals.
- Follow up on quotes and proposals to close sales.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the internal engineering and production teams to meet customer requirements.
- Communicate customer feedback and market insights to the management team.
- Participate in regular sales meetings and provide updates on sales activities and pipeline.
5. Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and sales pipeline using CRM software.
- Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for management review.
- Ensure all customer information and sales documentation are up to date.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field is a Bonus.
-High school diploma or equivalent Required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in outside sales, preferably in the manufacturing or machining industry.
- Strong technical background with an understanding of precision machining processes and equipment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Ability to travel frequently to meet with customers and attend industry events.
- Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.
Skills and Competencies:

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Work Environment:
- This position requires frequent travel to customer sites and occasional overnight stays.
- The work environment includes both office settings and customer manufacturing facilities, which may involve exposure to noise and industrial machinery.
