Job Title: Training, Technical Assistance and Capacity Specialist
Position Overview
The Training, Technical Assistance and Capacity Specialist's primary responsibility involves responding to training, technical assistance and capacity requests from intimate partner/ domestic violence member programs, allied professionals, stakeholders, and other community organizations. This includes conducting research on available resources, relevant laws or regulations, trends, and best practices, and identifying alternate subject matter experts as required.
Furthermore, this role will involve providing support to the training team by helping with the design, development, coordination, and implementation of both large and small-scale training programs at NMCADV.

Established in 1979 and incorporated on May 15, 1981, the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NMCADV) works to achieve a coordinated local, regional, and statewide response to domestic violence through a collaborative network of member programs that consist of domestic violence service providers and other allied organizations and individuals. The NMCADV serves as a clearinghouse for information and referrals on all domestic violence related issues and services. The coalition collaborates with agencies and advocates in the areas of program development, public policy, education, and funding proposals.

Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate agency technical assistance response regarding domestic violence and related issues to groups such as culturally specific community organizations, faith-based organizations, domestic violence service providers, and other allied professionals.
- Provide support in the planning of the Core Advocacy Training (CAT) a statewide advocacy training program.
- Assist with designing and developing training methods and curricula for specific audiences (online, in-person, conferences, professional development classes, etc.).
- Represent the agency on community and statewide task forces and working groups by attending meetings and providing technical assistance on an ongoing basis.
- Compile data and assist with organizational assessments and grant reporting.
- Contribute logistical assistance with the organization of virtual and live training from planning to evaluation.
- Research and maintain a working knowledge of emerging issues and trends pertaining to domestic violence and related issues.
- Assess and respond to domestic and sexual violence programs’ needs for technical assistance through site visits, phone support, trainings, and confidential consultations.
- Design, research, and implement technical assistance strategies including trainings based on needs assessment; identify appropriate materials and provide the information requested by organizations and individuals; conduct follow-up to assess the effectiveness of information provided.
- Attend and assist with the implementation of trainings and conferences.
- Provide support for agency-wide events, such as NMCADV’s annual member meeting and statewide conferences.
- Coordinate with staff, board members, and partners on project-related and agency-wide activities.
- Attend staff meetings, training team meetings, and community meetings as needed.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel as needed to complete job duties, valid Driver’s license, and proof of insurance necessary.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Strong organizational and program management skills required.
- Significant knowledge of the field of power-based violence and interest in researching resources, laws/regulations, trends, and best practices.
- Notable experience as a trainer, coach, or training facilitator, especially in the field of domestic violence and/or sexual assault
- Demonstrated ability to independently author and conduct trainings.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to work with a broad diversity of professionals.
- Must be responsible, reliable, professional, punctual, and flexible.
- Must be able to travel to meetings, trainings, and events in New Mexico.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required or commensurate professional experience.
- Expertise or demonstrated commitment to working in the field of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and/or violence against women.
Skills and abilities
- Ability to professionally serve as agency representative and ambassador in all internal and external interactions and communications in a manner that upholds the Coalition’s mission and vision statements and guiding principles.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Google and Microsoft Suites
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish preferred.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work duties, processes, and technologies.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with coworkers who have diverse communication styles and approaches to program planning in a highly interactive and productive work environment.
- Ability to manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete assignments within established timeframes.
- Experience working in a non-profit environment.

- Understanding of domestic and sexual violence issues, stalking, program service provision, and commitment to ending violence
- Understanding the issues of cultural diversity related to domestic and sexual violence intervention as well as in the context of social change work, and the daily work environment.
- Understanding of the role the Statewide Coalition plays in eliminating domestic and sexual violence, and empowering domestic and sexual violence survivors and their children.

Travel Requirements
Travel will be required regularly for site visits as well as in and out-of-state travel as needed. Travel and per diem will be covered by NMCADV per current travel and per diem rates.
