Job Title: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Shifts: Days (07:00 - 19:00) & Nights (19:00 - 07:00)
Job Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension
Weekly Blended Rate Range: $2000 - $2250 (Based on experience)
Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse in the Stepdown Unit, you will be responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of patients requiring intermediate care. This includes monitoring patients’ conditions, administering medications, implementing nursing care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care. You will work closely with patients and their families, educating them on the care plan and ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ health status upon admission and throughout their stay in the Stepdown Unit.
- Monitor vital signs, telemetry readings, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patients’ conditions.
- Implement appropriate interventions based on assessment findings to stabilize or improve patients’ health.
Nursing Care Delivery:
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
- Implement nursing care plans that address the specific needs of patients in the Stepdown Unit.
- Assist in procedures such as inserting intravenous lines, monitoring cardiac rhythms, and managing ventilator support (if applicable).
Patient Education and Support:
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families during times of stress or uncertainty.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to coordinate discharge planning and ensure continuity of care.
Documentation and Communication:
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patients’ progress, treatments, and responses to interventions.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including physicians, specialists, and ancillary staff, to ensure coordinated patient care.
Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements related to patient care and safety.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits to enhance patient outcomes and unit efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in a Stepdown or Intermediate Care Unit preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient care tasks.
