Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Technical Sales Representative with strong problem-solving skills and mechanical and electrical aptitude. The candidate will handle a range of tasks including sales prospecting, customer visits, problem-solving, quotes and proposals, managing CRM (Salesforce), estimating and project management. This role is consultive solution-based sales and requires the candidate to oversee the entire lifecycle of opportunities from concept to completion. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, be a strong written and verbal communicator, and be computer-savvy, proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Represent a broad line of industrial equipment and solutions.
· Drive all aspects of the sales cycle from lead generation to post-sale support.
· Act as the primary point of contact for customers within the assigned territory.
· Prospect new opportunities through various methods, including cold calling, networking, and industry events.
· Regularly travel throughout the New England territory to support existing customers and expand new business opportunities. Significant travel is required, primarily day trips, but overnight travel will be required as-needed. Travel expenses reimbursed by company.
· On-site customer visits, product demonstrations, and product training.
· Answer customer questions and provide follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Identify pain points that yield opportunities.
· Evaluate processes, equipment, facilities, drawings and specifications.
· Define problems, develop solutions, write requirements, create concept drawings, and estimate project costs.
· Conduct field measurements, minor servicing and testing of equipment.
· Draft and present proposals, negotiate contracts and close sales.
· Oversee installation projects involving multiple trades and critical timelines.
· Daily use of CRM (Salesforce) to record account activity, sales calls, emails, contacts, quotes, and opportunity updates.
Required Qualifications:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical field such as Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Ability to think and act strategically – capable of analyzing and interpreting data to make decisions
· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Experience with CAD software (preferred).
· Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
· Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
· Effective time management, high level of organization, self-disciplined, and structured.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
· Ability to manage expenses and budgets as required.
- Valid/current Driver’s License and reliable vehicle. Requires travel and overnight stays as needed.
