Qualifications:

Four year degree from a college or university
-
Valid NC teaching license/certificate
-
ESL certification- add-on or stand-alone licensure
-
Knowledge of current teaching standards and research-based teaching strategies
Essential Job Functions:
-
Develops core content vocabulary for all EL students.

Enhances student proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing
-
Interacts and engages the core classroom teacher(s) to impact the level of academic performance.

Provides instruction in a variety of educational settings including co-teaching and facilitating small group instruction for EL students.

Maintains open communication with the student’s regular classroom teacher and their parent/guardian to ensure student needs are being met.

Meets regularly with the EL Coordinator and with district EL teachers in PLCs.

Participates in district professional development for EL teachers.

Assesses students using the ACCESS battery of assessments.
-
Utilizes student data and observations of student work to determine student needs.

Develops and implements learning plans for EL students.
-
Maintains records of student progress and attendance.
-
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
