General Position Description: Our small busy Endocrinology practice supports one Physician and requires a full time Front Office Assistant.

Front Office Assistant Core responsibilities
- Patient Check in includes welcoming all patients and visitors by greeting them in person, answering inquiries and directing them through the registration process. This includes collect all insurance information, verify patient demographics.
- Discharge of patients includes scheduling follow up appointments, processing payments, and scheduling imaging and referral appointments.
- Management new patient registrations and appointment setup.
- Management of office supplies and services.
- Utilizing a multi-line phone system, fax machine, printer, copier, and scanner to process patients. Ensures messages and callbacks are processed in a timely manner and that faxes attended to. Answers practice emails in a timely and professional manner.
- Supervising the records clerk in the preparation and management of charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
- Assists the practicing Physician in ensuring that all patient information is entered in the Electronic Health system accurately and in a timely manner.

- Must have good computer skills and the ability to learn computer software relating to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) required. Specific EMR experience preferred.
- Communicates well with patients and medical staff
- Prior experience in a medical office setting
- Ability to follow OSHA/HIPPAA guidelines
The position requires ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 20 lbs.The candidate will be required to comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
