Job Overview
Our company is seeking an experienced Outside Plant Quality Control Inspector to join our team. The Inspector will be responsible for overseeing inspections for cable installations within municipality ROW and related infrastructure within our clients designated areas necessary to support telecommunications services to our clients as it relates to relocation within Public ROW.
Role and Responsibilities
- Familiar with OSP facilities including conduit systems, manholes, handholes, pedestals, aerial and buried cable systems, and associated infrastructure such as power and grounding.
- Coordinate with other internal departments to ensure that OSP designs are compliant with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Obtain required permits and approvals for OSP construction projects from municipalities, utilities, and other regulatory agencies.
- Perform field engineering work to verify and locate existing OSP infrastructure and to identify potential construction obstacles.
- Manage OSP construction projects from initiation to completion, including cost tracking, scheduling, and quality control.
- Coordinate with other construction crews to ensure that OSP designs are compatible with internal network architecture.
- Maintain accurate documentation of OSP construction projects and update as necessary.
- Verifying the correctness of material listing, scheduling, etc. and verifying the availability of material for the jobs.
- Meet with OSP engineering personnel at job locations to assist in pre-design coordination. Suggest alternative placing methods to improve cost efficiency of the OSP Supplier.
- Investigate material discrepancies and assist in reconciling the differences.
· Pre-survey jobs to identify roadblocks and assure the jobs can be worked as engineered.
o Verify required permits to perform work on site.
o Locate and mark underground utility lines using specialized equipment and techniques.
o Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and drawings to accurately locate utility lines.
o Use cabling and probing tools to identify the depth and location of utility lines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Locate Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in OSP construction and engineering.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure including copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling systems.
- Experience with CAD and GIS design prints.
- Ability to read and interpret Civil Design Drawings and schematics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver reports on time and within budget.
- Ability to use computers and work with Microsoft Office programs.
