JW Fowler is a heavy civil contractor specializing in open trench and trenchless installations of large diameter pipeline utilities and in construction of water/wastewater treatment facilities for communities on the west coast. From a small, family-owned and managed company, we’ve grown to be a preferred contractor to serve the infrastructure needs of communities throughout Oregon, Washington, and California.
Project Engineer Specific Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for managing the project’s field engineering group in project controls and technical support of construction for the successful completion of the project. The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties or skills required. Duties and responsibilities may be added or changed as deemed appropriate by management at any time.
Project Engineer Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly revenue, cost, and cash flow reporting
- Create and manage project controls processes in accordance with the contract documents
- Administer subcontracts and purchase agreements
- Manage the equity outreach and contracting program to meet contracting goals
- Oversee the Project’s schedule and monthly updates
- Review design packages for constructability and quality control
- Assist in operations planning
- Help ensure the safety of our team – Everyone is responsible for safety!
- Project closeout and construction as-built recording
- Maintaining strong client relations throughout all aspects of the work
- Mentorship of construction engineering group
Project Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, or related discipline; Experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 5 to 8 years of relevant construction engineering/management experience
- Experience managing construction engineers
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong organizational and time management skill sets, with attention to detail
- Leader who can effectively function with a diverse group of people to achieve a common goal
- Team player with information management skills and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
- Proficient computer skills, including experience in MS Office Suite, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, construction estimating software (E.g., InEight Estimate), or similar software
Project Engineer Physical Demands
Ability to stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Climb up and down ladder, scaffolds and other objects, and carry tools and equipment. Stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.
Project Engineer Environment Adaptability
Work inside and outside in all weather conditions and various locations. Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time. Hard hat, hearing and eye protection required when on job site.
