About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our talented team in the design and development of embedded circuits for educational robot products, like motor drivers, sensors, robot controllers, and human interface devices. You will play a crucial role in driving innovation, product design, ensuring project success, and mentoring junior engineers to help them grow their skills.
Salary range: $100,000 to $130,000 plus benefits

What you'll do*
- Design, develop, test, and implement embedded electrical systems for robot components.
- Contribute directly to design projects, demonstrating expert-level proficiency.
- Lead the development and maintenance of common electrical parts libraries for design software and integration with ERP systems.
- Actively participate in product line ecosystem architecture decisions from an electrical system perspective.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Conduct comprehensive design reviews to ensure the functionality, performance, safety, and manufacturability of electrical designs.
- Collaborate with external electrical design partners and manage their contributions effectively.
- Participate in the resolution of customer technical issues, leveraging your expertise to support the customer support team.
- Demonstrate proficiency in electrical circuit validation and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and data acquisition equipment.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices in electrical engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in an electrical engineering role, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and complexity.
- Electrical design experience with digital circuits, switching regulators, USB, CAN, serial interfaces, basic analog, and DC motor drive.
- Demonstrated experience in embedded software development, including ARM-based microcontrollers and their closely tied software and electrical peripheral interactions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in industry-standard electrical engineering design tools and software.
Nice to have
- Experience mentoring or leading junior engineers.
- Strong understanding of brushed and brushless motor control principles and applications.
- Hands-on experience with FIRST® and its robotics programs.
- Experience with overseas PCB manufacturing and factory acceptance testing.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics (Siemens) PADs.
- Electrical design experience with Ethernet, FPGAs, and other high-spec embedded system integration.
