Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Preschool Lead Teacher with specialized skills in special education to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all children, including those with diverse learning needs, can thrive. As a lead teacher, you will design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, assess individual student needs, collaborate with families and other professionals, and provide differentiated instruction to support each child's growth and development.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an engaging and inclusive curriculum that meets the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs of all children, including those with special needs.
- Assess individual student strengths and areas for growth using a variety of assessment tools and observations.
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with special needs.
- Provide differentiated instruction and accommodations to support the learning styles and abilities of all students in the classroom.
- Create a supportive and nurturing classroom environment where all children feel valued, respected, and included.
- Implement positive behavior management strategies to promote social-emotional development and address challenging behaviors.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, needs, and achievements.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and interventions.
- Stay current with best practices and research in the field of early childhood education and special education.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to special education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Two plus years of experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly those with special needs.
- Strong knowledge of child development, early childhood education principles, and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Ability to create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and outside professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children of all abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to provide up to date state required clearances and pass the required physical exam as well as meet all the state requirements as outlined by The Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry young children and classroom materials up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to engage in full range of motion to life, reach, squat, climb, sit, and otherwise fully participate in classroom activities.
- Ability to supervise and interact with children outdoors for extended periods of varied weather conditions.
