Service Technician
Department: Service
Reports to: Service Manager or Location Manager
Supervises: None
Purpose
Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment such as John Deere, Caterpillar, New Holland, Case IH, Bobcat farm and construction equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs repairs and maintenance on all makes and models of equipment
- Maintains current knowledge of all brands offered as well as competitive products
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
- Accounts for all time within DMS and for all material used in performing assigned duties
- May perform diagnosis and repair in the field
- Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees
- Participates in John Deere training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
- Actively assists in recruiting service work
- Shares knowledge and skills with other company technicians
- Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. Demonstrates understanding of and ability to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
- 2+ years of professional experience performing service repairs in a business setting or certificate/diploma from a recognized program
- Ability to perform repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
- Significant knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of Motorsports, turf equipment and handheld power equipment
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
- Ability to use a forklift/skid loader, forklift certification preferred
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Basic Service Technician certification preferred
- Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities
