POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Investment Banking - Asia/APAC Division, is a mid-to-senior level role based in the US, focusing on the Asia/APAC markets. The primary responsibility is to lead and execute transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, and other strategic advisory services specific to the Asia/APAC region. This position involves managing client relationships, developing business opportunities, overseeing transaction processes, and guiding junior staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead and execute transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and other strategic advisory services within the Asia/APAC markets.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, including pitching ideas, managing expectations, and providing high-quality service to clients in the Asia/APAC region.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, expanding the firm’s presence and client base within the Asia/APAC markets.
- Oversee and manage due diligence processes, coordinating with legal, accounting, and other advisors to identify and address potential risks and issues specific to transactions involving Asia/APAC companies.
- Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the investment banking team focused on the Asia/APAC markets, ensuring effective execution of deals and alignment with the firm's overall strategy.
- Collaborate with senior banking team members to build comprehensive financial models and prepare high-quality presentation materials and other deliverables for investment banking clients in the Asia/APAC region.
- Lead client meetings, presentations, and negotiations, providing expert advice and insights on market trends and transaction strategies specific to the Asia/APAC markets.
- Conduct market and industry research to stay informed about trends and opportunities within the Asia/APAC region, guiding the division’s strategic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices for transactions involving the Asia/APAC markets.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth within the division.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees (MBA, CFA) are preferred.
Required Licensure: Series 79 license
Required Experience, Skills, and/or Knowledge:
- Fluency in Mandarin is required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of investment banking experience with a focus on the Asia/APAC markets.
- Proven track record of leading and executing high-profile transactions in the Asia/APAC region.
- Deep understanding of financial markets, products, and instruments, particularly within the Asia/APAC region.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Superior financial modeling and valuation skills, with proficiency in relevant software and financial databases.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong public speaking skills and comfort with leading large group meetings and conference calls.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to investment banking, including SEC regulations.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the Asia/APAC region.
WORKPLACE LOCATION
- Our team operates out of our beautiful offices on Madison Avenue in New York City. This role requires daily presence in the office as well as at client offices for meetings, events, etc.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
- Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client deliverables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires ability to travel locally by car/public transportation, as well as domestic and international trips involving air travel for multi-night stays.
